Job summary

Axon in Seattle seeks an experienced backend engineer for the DEMS Ingestion team to design scalable, secure cloud services that handle terabytes of data. You’ll lead multi-cloud (AWS and Azure) architecture, drive projects end-to-end, and mentor other engineers while collaborating with Product and Design.

The role requires 10+ years in software development, Go or Scala skills, with experience in SQL/NoSQL stores and event streaming (Kafka/ActiveMQ).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience designing and delivering highly-available, scalable cloud-based systems.
• Full-stack development in Go, Scala, Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, or C#.
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL data stores.
• Experience with real-time streaming technologies such as Kafka or ActiveMQ.
• Bonus: React front-end experience.
• Bonus: Mobile development experience.
• Bonus: automated testing frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, secure, high-performance software in this mission-critical space.
• Lead technical projects from concept to launch, ensuring solutions meet business and technical requirements.
• Collaborate across teams with Product, Design, and Engineering to create customer-delighting solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship for engineers across the group.
• Help define a technical vision within the team and the broader organization.
• Partner with Engineering Managers, Directors, and Staff Engineers to set strategic direction.
• Lead architecture reviews and provide feedback through PRs and design documents.
• Define and manage roadmaps for the technical backlog.
• Continuously improve engineering processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
