Job summary

Axon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to join the Real Time Operations pillar in Seattle. You will work on distributed systems, APIs, and full-stack services with high availability and low latency, collaborating with product managers and designers, and mentoring peers.

You will contribute to Vehicle Intelligence and ALPR product initiatives, applying Go, Java, Python, React/Angular, and scalable cloud services while maintaining a customer-focused mindset and hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience designing highly available, scalable cloud-based systems.
• Backend service experience in Go, Java, Python; frontend in React or Angular.
• SQL or NoSQL data stores such as MySQL, Cassandra, Elasticsearch.

Responsibilities

• Impact the development and design; launching new features and initiatives.
• Lead engineering architecture design reviews.
• Set a high technical bar for the team through code and architecture design reviews.
• Mentoring & coaching engineers.
• Working across teams with Product, Design, and Engineering to create integrated solutions that delight our customers.
• Identify improvements to raise our engineering process, including long-term thinking.
• Building services for high availability and low latency in mission-critical space.
• Scaling our APIs, cloud services and ingestion pipelines.
• Working with AI tools and agents to enhance productivity.
