Job summary

Cloudbeds seeks a Senior Software Engineer for its Workflow Squad to design, build, and operate backend services in PHP and Java. You will own features across APIs, data models, and event-driven systems, with occasional frontend contributions.

The role emphasizes AI-first development, reliability, and cross-team collaboration in a remote, globally distributed setting. You’ll work closely with Product, Design, Infrastructure, Security, and Engineering to deliver scalable hospitality software,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building, shipping, and operating production applications.
• Strong proficiency in PHP and/or Java with backend focus.
• Solid understanding of API design, relational data modeling, and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate customer-facing backend services and product capabilities primarily in PHP and Java.
• Build reliable APIs, data models, integrations, asynchronous processes, and event-driven services.
• Own changes end-to-end across application code, service boundaries, infrastructure, and deployment configuration.
• Work AI-first, using Claude Code as a starting point and maintain review standards.
• Improve scalability, resilience, performance, security, and maintainability of distributed systems.
• Own observability, automated testing, release quality, production support, and incident response.
