Twelve Labs is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to build the server-side infrastructure powering our agentic application layer. You will join a small, high-impact team and own the transition from prototype to production-ready platform.

Role involves backend design for video workflows, ML model integration, and cloud-native deployment with AWS/GCP. Up to 25% travel to LA; on-site interviews may be required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building production backend systems.
• Experience with video tooling (FFmpeg, AWS Media Services).
• Strong SOA, microservices, distributed systems expertise.
• Proficiency in Python for backend services and tooling.
• Hands-on ML/CV model inference in production.

Responsabilités

• Design and build backend services for video processing workflows (ingestion, transcoding, 4K export, metadata extraction, timelines)
• Architect scalable, high-availability systems on cloud platforms (AWS/GCP)
• Build and optimize APIs for real-time and async front-end workflows
• Own performance and reliability of distributed video pipelines
• Collaborate with frontend engineers on API design and streaming strategies
