Job summary

Twelve Labs is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to build the server-side infrastructure powering our agentic application layer. You will own the transition from prototype to production-ready platform and design scalable services for video processing and ML model integration.

Role requires 7+ years building production backend systems, proficiency in Python, and experience with cloud-native stacks (AWS/GCP), containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and API design.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building production backend systems
• Experience with video-specific tools and frameworks
• Deep experience with service-oriented architecture and microservices
• Strong proficiency in Python for backend services and tooling
• Hands-on experience running inference on ML/CV models in production
• Cloud-native development with AWS or GCP; containerization with Docker and Kubernetes

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services for video processing workflows (ingestion, transcoding, 4K export)
• Architect scalable, high-availability systems across cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, GCP)
• Build and optimize APIs for real-time and async front-end workflows
• Own performance and reliability of distributed video processing pipelines
• Collaborate with frontend engineers on API design and data models
• Integrate and run inference on ML/CV models in production and serve models on cloud platforms
