Grafana Labs is a fully remote company seeking a Senior Engineer to own Tempo’s technical direction. You will tackle the hardest problems, lead multi-month initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across the Grafana stack.

The role emphasizes Go expertise, distributed systems experience, and a strong ownership mindset, with on-call responsibility and open-source engagement. In the US, Canada, and globally distributed teams, you’ll help Tempo scale, evolve APIs, and drive

Formación

• Significant hands-on experience building and operating distributed data systems in production.
• Strong Go proficiency and systems programming skills.
• Proven track record delivering complex multi-month projects and mentoring peers.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Deliver significant technical projects from framing through rollout with cross-team alignment.
• Own major Tempo components like ingestion, storage, query and metrics generation.
• Build APIs for humans and agents to enable downstream products and partners.
• Contribute to operational excellence with SLOs, alerts, and automation to reduce toil.
• Collaborate with PMs and other Grafana teams to understand Tempo usage and unblock teams.
• Mentor engineers through reviews, feedback, and pair programming and participate in on-call incidents.
