Grafana Labs is a remote-first company building Tempo, the open-source tracing backend behind Grafana Cloud Traces. As a Senior Engineer, you will steer technical direction, own major Tempo components, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions.

The role emphasizes operating at scale, open-source collaboration, and contributing to an AI-enabled observability platform. You will work with product and sibling teams to drive performance, reliability, and new capabilities,

Qualifications

• Track record of delivering complex, multi-month projects spanning design, delivery and operations.
• Hands-on experience building and operating distributed data systems in production.
• Write clean, robust, and maintainable code with a focus on performance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver significant technical projects from problem framing to rollout.
• Own major Tempo components: ingestion, storage, query, and metrics generation.
• Build APIs for humans and agents with deterministic interfaces.
