Job summary

Affim is seeking a senior backend engineering lead to define and drive the technical strategy for a new team building discovery and search experiences, with a focus on scalable backend systems. Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend design, development and launch at scale.
• Experience with Python or Kotlin.
• Proven track record building highly available distributed systems.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with React for consumer experiences.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long horizon.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to ensure sustainability and risk management.
• Advocate technical solutions and operational processes for team efficiency.
• Own team operations, monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks and on-call readiness.
• Set code review and design standards and promote them across teams.
• Develop talent by providing feedback and guiding team members.
