Job summary

Uber is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Data & Backend) to architect scalable systems powering hundreds of millions of users and merchants worldwide. You will own end-to-end delivery from design to production, leading cross-functional projects with a focus on performance, reliability, and scale.

You will design long-lasting artifacts, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Product, Science, and Ops to translate ambiguous requirements into production-ready roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend software engineering, data engineering, or related technical role.
• Expertise writing high-quality code for cross-org problems.
• Experience leading org-wide engineering projects through lifecycle stages.
• Proven track record of incident management and on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Design and build long-lasting engineering artifacts to reduce complexity and boost velocity.
• Solve high-impact problems at the intersection of low latency and high correctness.
• Foresee architectural problems and coordinate with leadership to address them.
• Lead framework adoption and drive high-quality design reviews across teams.
