Job summary

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology in San Francisco seeks a Senior Development Engineer with strong backend experience in Java and Scala. You will build and operate high-throughput services, contribute to distributed systems, and partner with product, data, and infra teams to enable media platforms.

You will work on offline ETL pipelines, machine learning model deployment, performance tuning, and reliability improvements while shaping architecture for scalable growth.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience using Java, Scala, or similar backend languages.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, data processing, service reliability, and performance optimization.
• Experience with offline ETL pipelines and large-scale data processing.
• Experience maintaining and deploying machine learning models in production.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain business-critical backend services using Java and Scala.
• Develop scalable and reliable systems supporting User Enablement capabilities.
• Build, operate, and optimize offline ETL pipelines that process massive data volumes.
• Maintain and deploy machine learning models associated with critical backend services.
