Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years building highly available backend services in production.
• Strong in Golang (preferred) or Java and cloud deployment (AWS).
• Experience with caching (Redis/Memcached) and observability tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own complex technical initiatives end-to-end from design to production deployment.
• Define backend distribution APIs with high availability and low latency.
• Collaborate with product, editorial, and engineering stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
• Prioritize workstreams to deliver high impact, mitigate risks, and ensure execution.
• Champion code quality, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and incident response.
• Set standards for on-call processes and post‑incident analysis.
• Mentor engineers to foster ownership and continuous improvement.
• Drive performance optimization across services, caching, and data stores.
• Contribute to documentation and promote knowledge sharing.
