Job summary

Plume in the United States is seeking a Senior Engineer to build scalable backend systems powering our SaaS platform for smart spaces. You will design RESTful and gRPC APIs, develop cloud-based microservices in AWS/GCP/Azure, and ensure data pipelines are real-time and reliable.

You will join a cross-functional product engineering team, contribute to architecture discussions, implement CI/CD, security, and observability practices, and help maintain architectural integrity while shipping features

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Scala, Go or Java and Python.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Understanding of networking, OS, and databases.
• Hands-on cloud and container orchestration (AWS/GCP/Azure + Kubernetes/Docker).
• Familiarity with data engineering (ETL, real-time streaming with Kafka/Pulsar).
• SQL and NoSQL databases; CI/CD, testing, and observability tooling.

Responsibilities

• API Development: Design, implement, and maintain RESTful and gRPC APIs.
• Cloud Microservices: Architect and deploy scalable microservices in AWS/GCP/Azure using Kubernetes.
• Data Pipelines: Build real-time and batch pipelines with data quality and observability.
• Collaboration: Work with cross-functional squads from concept to production.
• System Reliability: Optimize for scalability, resilience, and high availability.
• Engineering Excellence: Enforce coding standards and CI/CD practices; improve monitoring.
• Security: Embed security and compliance into backend systems and data workflows.
