Job summary

Zoom is seeking an experienced backend-focused engineer to own large-scale systems, APIs, and data pipelines. You will build scalable infrastructure, write robust code, and work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve customer needs.

You will contribute to API design, testing, and documentation while ensuring observability, reliability, and performance across the platform. This role emphasizes backend ownership, stable tooling, and clear communication with engineers and product partners.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Proficient with AWS, Postgres, and Node.js.
• Experience using TypeGraphQL for API endpoints and Apollo/Express as the web server; Postgres on RDS; and React for front-end; AWS for infrastructure.
• Strong backend ownership and ability to tackle large projects.
• Excellent communication with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Sound judgment on tradeoffs and tooling; favor stable, supported solutions.
• Translate customer problems into system design and elegant solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop infrastructure, data models, features, and the system to build APIs and resolve customer issues.
• Write well-designed, testable code ensuring efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
• Develop software testing and validation procedures and documentation.
• Ensure core internal capabilities, infrastructure, and ML systems meet customer and team needs.
• Analyze problems and design simple, elegant solutions with observability and SLA considerations.
