Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Back-end (Repayment Scheduling), to own and deliver backend features for a high‑scale payments system. The role is fully remote for Europe, with the Repayment Scheduling team focused on automating payments across a multi‑billion dollar annual volume and serving millions of users.

You will collaborate with product, design, and analytics, define technical plans for significant features, and drive safe evolution of a large code base while maintaining

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend design and development experience.
• Experience with Python or Kotlin.
• Built highly available distributed systems.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to design elegant, extensible systems.
• Strong communication and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open‑ended problems.
• Collaborate with product, design, and analytics to ideate, articulate constraints, and partner on decisions with trade‑offs.
• Identify issues and lead efforts to resolve them across project, process, tech, or business domains.
• Support operations and availability of team artifacts by creating/monitoring metrics and participating in on‑call efforts.
• Set and improve code review and design standards, and advocate for them via writing and tech talks.
• Develop talent on the team by giving feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
