Job summary

Stripe, LLC in Seattle, WA is hiring a software engineer to build scalable backend services, webhooks, and public APIs. You will translate requirements into secure, maintainable designs and work closely with product teams to address user pain points.

The role requires a Master’s or a Bachelor’s with extensive experience in Java, Ruby, Python, and Go, plus 3 years in backend, distributed systems, and data processing. Telecommuting up to 50% is allowed, with 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 3 years of software engineering experience, or
• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of progressive related experience in software engineering.
• 3 years in Java, Ruby, Python and Go; backend services, APIs and distributed systems; database design and optimization; stream processing with Kafka/Kinesis; scalable, observable designs; frontend components with React and D3.js.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable backend services, webhooks, and public APIs.
• Write high-quality, reliable code for real-time data signals and systems.
• Own medium-sized technical projects from requirements to architecture.
• Contribute to on-call rotation and maintain high-visibility systems.
• Collaborate with product teams to address user pain points and inform roadmaps.
