Job summary

Cloudbeds is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Booking Engine Squad. You will implement architectures, features, and best practices to scale the Cloudbeds platform using modern SaaS and AWS technologies.

You’ll focus on correctness, latency, and resilience, delivering a high-quality experience to customers worldwide. You'll contribute to migrating to microservices and event-driven services, own performance, and collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive

Qualifications

• 5+ years of PHP web application software engineering experience.
• Experience with API-driven design and development.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and collaboration with ownership.
• Experience migrating core platform to microservices and event-driven services.
• Solid Git fundamentals and CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of data models for availability, pricing, and reservations.
• Business-level English fluency, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features and improvements in PHP.
• Design and build the APIs and integrations the booking flow depends on.
• Model and evolve the data behind availability, pricing, and reservations.
• Own the performance, scalability, and reliability of services at scale.
• Contribute to migrating the core platform to microservices and event-driven services.
• Lead discussions on complex technical concepts with stakeholders and drive decisions.
• Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code and documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, build, and ship features.
• Mentor teammates through pair programming and code reviews.
• Refactor existing systems and shape long-term technical vision.
• Advocate for engineering best practices and test automation.
