Job summary

Cloudbeds is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for the Booking Engine Squad. You will implement new architectures, features, and best practices to scale the platform using modern SaaS and AWS technologies.

You’ll work on systems prioritizing correctness, latency, and resilience, delivering exceptional experiences to hoteliers worldwide. You will help migrate to microservices and event‑driven services, lead technical discussions, and mentor teammates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of PHP web application software engineering experience.
• Expert knowledge of relational databases, indexing, and searching technologies.
• Experience with API‑driven design and development.
• Business‑level English fluency, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features and improvements in PHP.
• Design and build the APIs and integrations the booking flow depends on.
• Model and evolve the data behind availability, pricing, and reservations.
• Own the performance, scalability, and reliability of our services at scale.
• Contribute to migrating core platform into microservices and event‑driven services.
• Lead discussions on technical concepts with stakeholders and drive decisions.
• Write clean, well‑tested, well‑documented code and documentation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to plan, build, and ship features.
• Mentor team members through pair programming and code reviews.
• Re‑architect and refactor existing systems; help design long‑term tech vision.
