Cloudbeds, a global hospitality software leader, seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Booking Engine squad. You will implement new architectures, features, and best practices to scale the platform, working toward a service‑oriented architecture with modern SaaS and AWS tech.

You’ll own performance, latency, and reliability at scale, shaping an exceptional customer experience worldwide. The role offers a remote‑first, globally distributed team and opportunities to influence backend design

Qualifications

• 5+ years of PHP web application software engineering experience.
• Strong relational databases, indexing, and search tech knowledge.
• Experience with API‑driven design and development.
• Solid Git fundamentals; comfortable with workflows and actions.
• Strong testing mindset: unit, integration, and end‑to‑end.
• Passion for agile practices and continuous improvement.
• Business‑level English fluency, both verbal and written.
• Experience identifying and improving application performance.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and microservices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features and improvements in PHP.
• Design and build the APIs and integrations the booking flow depends on.
• Model and evolve the data behind availability, pricing, and reservations.
• Own the performance, scalability, and reliability of services at scale.
• Migrate core platform toward microservices and event‑driven services.
• Lead discussions on complex technical concepts with stakeholders; influence backend architecture.
• Write clean, well‑tested, well‑documented code with good documentation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to plan, build, and ship features.
• Mentor teammates through pair programming and code reviews.
