Job summary

Plume is seeking a skilled backend engineer to join our Product Engineering team and help build scalable, high‑performance services powering a broad ecosystem of smart spaces.

You will design REST/gRPC APIs, deploy microservices across AWS/GCP/Azure, and shape data pipelines with real‑time streaming. Collaborative, security‑minded, and observability‑driven, you’ll drive engineering excellence across the stack.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Scala, Go, or Java and Python (multi‑language a plus).
• Distributed systems, microservices, and event‑driven architectures.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Kubernetes/Docker experience.
• SQL and NoSQL databases; CI/CD, testing, and observability fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• API Development: Design, implement, and maintain RESTful and gRPC APIs.
• Cloud Microservices: Architect and deploy scalable microservices on cloud platforms.
• Data Pipelines: Build real‑time and batch data pipelines with observability.
• Collaboration: Work with cross‑functional squads to ship features end‑to‑end.
• System Reliability: Optimize for scalability, resilience, and availability.
• Engineering Excellence: Enforce standards, CI/CD, testing, and monitoring.
• Security: Embed security and compliance into backend systems.
