Job summary

NinjaTrader, a leading futures trading platform, seeks a senior backend engineer in Chicago to design, build, and maintain fast, reliable systems that process high-volume data for trading operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor engineers while owning backend services written in Python and TypeScript.

The role requires 8+ years of experience, a Computer Science degree, Linux and cloud experience (GCP), and a passion for modern observability and scalable

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience building real-time applications.
• Proven Python and TypeScript backend development experience.
• Strong Linux and cloud platform skills (GCP).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems to handle large data flows.
• Lead development teams and enforce coding standards.
• Own software quality, uptime, and resilience.
• Collaborate with finance, treasury, accounts, and trading teams.
• Implement monitoring and logging with observability tools.
• Review code to ensure consistency and good architecture.
• Streamline processes to boost operational efficiency.
• Create and maintain technical docs for back-office workflows.
• Stay current on Python, TypeScript, and trading tech.
