Job summary

NinjaTrader is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer II to own the Activation & Onboarding service layer. You will design, deploy, and operate a robust, multi-step account creation and funding flow using Node.js, TypeScript, and event-driven architectures.

Based in Chicago, IL, this role offers hybrid work with in-office and remote days. You will mentor engineers, coordinate with adjacent squads, and help extend onboarding to new markets while ensuring robust reliability and scalability.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development with backend services in production.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Deep Node.js and TypeScript expertise with asynchronous patterns and backpressure.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Node.js/TypeScript services that orchestrate onboarding workflows.
• Build event-driven, asynchronous processing using queues, pub/sub, or streaming platforms.
• Own long-running, multi-step flows with idempotency, retries, and deduplication.
• Design background task runners and job orchestration for downstream account creation.
• Provide tooling to diagnose stalled applications and safe requeue mechanisms.
• Define SLAs and implement monitoring/alerts for flow reliability.
• Collaborate with adjacent squads and mentor junior engineers.
