Job summary

Factor Eleven is seeking a senior backend architect to own the Order Management module in a greenfield project. You will define the architecture for the entire order lifecycle, contract generation, and DocuSign integrations, while shaping long-term technical direction across the backend platform.

You will collaborate with Product and Engineering to translate complex legal requirements into scalable systems, establishing patterns for reliability and observability in production.

Qualifications

• Extensive backend experience in production systems.
• Hands-on with event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
• Proficient in Node.js backend development.
• Strong architectural judgment and design skills.

Responsibilities

• Order Lifecycle & Workflow Architecture: Design the order state machine (Draft → Internal Review → Pending Signature → Approved/Declined), approval workflows, idempotent transitions, and audit events.
• Document Generation & Contract Library: Own the PDF generation pipeline, including templates and versioning across contracts.
• External Integrations: Design reliable integrations with planning systems and DocuSign, with asynchronous processing, retries, reconciliation, and observability.
• Technical Leadership: Drive architectural alignment via design docs and RFCs; set cross-cutting engineering patterns.
• AI-Assisted Engineering: Define patterns for AI-assisted development and code review standards.
• Backend APIs: Design performant, scalable APIs for dashboards, search, and pipeline visibility.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Align Product, Legal, Operations, and Engineering with business needs.
• Production Reliability: Improve observability, monitoring, and operational excellence.
