Job summary

CoffeeSpace is recruiting a Backend Engineer in New York to help architect and scale real-time logistics systems powering lunch experiences for workplaces. You’ll design backend services, APIs, and data stores, solving ambiguous, high-impact problems with Java and Go.

You’ll collaborate with frontend, mobile, product, and operations teams to deliver end-to-end solutions, mentor peers, and drive reliability, testing, monitoring, and performance practices across the backend stack.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of backend development experience in distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Java and Go.
• Experience with APIs and data stores.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to tackle complex, high-impact problems.
• Excellent collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend systems for web and mobile.
• Lead major technical initiatives in routing, automation, scalability, and reliability.
• Own backend architecture and solve ambiguous, high-impact problems.
• Build and scale core APIs, services, and data stores.
• Implement testing, monitoring, observability, and performance best practices.
• Partner with leadership to translate priorities into roadmaps.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and operations teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and code reviews.
