Job summary

Brooksource is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer in Louisville, KY for a hybrid contract role. You will design, build, and support backend systems using Java and Spring Boot, working on both modern and legacy applications within a large enterprise environment.

You will mentor junior engineers, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to API integrations and IAM workflows while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 6+ years of backend software development experience.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot experience.
• Experience building and supporting enterprise applications.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills.
• Production debugging and Linux log review experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS) and IAM integrations.
• Experience mentoring or guiding junior engineers.
• Experience with APIs and enterprise integrations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Maintain internal corporate applications and integrations.
• Troubleshoot production issues and assist incident resolution.
• Support IAM workflows and enterprise system integrations.
• Review logs and perform basic Linux troubleshooting.
• Write SQL queries and support DB-driven apps.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and stakeholders.
• Contribute to modernization while supporting existing systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices.
• Participate in on-call rotation for back-office apps.
