Job summary

Kharon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Denver to design, develop, and maintain backend services powering our client-facing application. You will work across Java/Kotlin and other JVM languages, contribute to API design, and own code quality through testing and CI/CD pipelines.

You will join a high-impact team in an on-site role, collaborating with product, QA, and architecture to deliver robust software in a fast-paced agile environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend-focused software engineering experience.
• ,
• Strong proficiency in at least one JVM language (Java or Kotlin).
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and ability to reason across service boundaries.
• Experience with Vue.js or openness to contributing to a Vue-based frontend.
• Solid understanding of relational and graph databases (PostgreSQL/Neo4j).
• Working knowledge of AWS fundamentals and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD workflows (GitHub Actions).
• Testing mindset with unit/integration testing and QA feedback responsiveness.
• Strong communicator able to clarify requirements and collaborate with product stakeholders.
• Comfort with AI coding tools as a productivity accelerator; review and ownership of code.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain backend services for Kharon's client-facing application across Kotlin, Java, Go, and Python.
• Develop and ship APIs across full development lifecycle from requirements to production release.
• Troubleshoot and fix bugs by analyzing logs and reproducing issues locally.
• Write automated tests and contribute to code quality through clean PRs.
• Collaborate with product owners, frontend engineers, QA, and architects to discuss design and API contracts.
• Contribute to infra responsibilities including CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes deployments on AWS.
• Participate in two-week sprints using Jira and support production hotfixes as needed.
• Mentor mid-level engineers over time.
