Job summary

EnergyHub is seeking a remote Senior Software Engineer to join the Battery team. This back-end and data-focused role designs and develops services and APIs to support residential battery programs while maintaining a strong security posture across our infrastructure.

You will work with technologies including React, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, CI/CD, Spring, and Python to build scalable solutions and deliver secure, reliable software for virtual power plants and grid flexibility.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with the Java/Spring ecosystem.
• Expertise in RESTful web APIs, especially those targeting external clients.
• Strong software design skills.
• Knowledge of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Security-focused design and implementation practices.
• Experience with CI/CD and monitoring (e.g., GitHub Actions, DataDog, Sentry, Metaplane).
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as needed.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain features across our battery solution.
• Develop and maintain the backend REST API and business logic.
• Integrate with distributed internal services to enable new capabilities.
• Ensure security and data protection policies are in place and enforced.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to improve requirements and quality.
• Write and maintain technical documentation.
• Support and evolve APIs for client integrations.
• Other duties as assigned.
