Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to design and build scalable, high-availability services powering an EV charging platform. You will work on core backend systems for charge point communication, session lifecycle, tariffs, billing, and roaming integrations (OCPP/OCPI) using Java, Spring Boot, and GCP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• Strong backend development experience in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing microservices and cloud deployments.
• Familiarity with OCPP/OCPI is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and evolve services supporting core EV charging workflows—session management, tariff, billing.
• Architect microservices with clear API boundaries and resilient inter-service communication.
• Design event-driven architectures using Pub/Sub or Kafka for real-time data flows.
• Deploy, manage, and optimize services on GCP (GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub).
• Mentor junior developers and drive engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues including protocol-level integrations.
