Job summary

Hidden Jobs is seeking a senior backend engineer to design and evolve scalable financial services behind a consumer lending platform. You will work on event-driven components, deploy via Kubernetes and CI/CD, and mentor teammates across a cross-functional agile team.

Required experience includes PHP and MySQL with OO design, Git workflows, and strong English communication. German language proficiency is a plus and FinTech exposure is desirable.

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on backend experience with object-oriented PHP and MySQL.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Kafka and event-driven or service-oriented architectures.
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong English communication skills; German is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve architecture for secure, scalable financial services, balancing reliability, cost, and long-term maintainability.
• Build event-driven components within a service-oriented architecture, working with Kafka for messaging.
• Develop and ship backend services using object-oriented PHP and MySQL.
• Operate and deploy via Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive engineering quality through code reviews, documentation, and testing practices (PHPUnit, Cypress).
• Mentor teammates, lead design reviews, and address root causes of recurring technical issues.
