Job summary

Clera is hiring a senior backend engineer for a fully remote role across European timezones. You will design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs in a high-trust fintech context, working with Node.js/TypeScript (team prefers this stack) and potentially Python/Go/Java.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments.
• Proficiency in Node.js/TypeScript; Python/Go/Java also considered.
• Experience designing scalable APIs and distributed services.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL in production.
• Familiarity with message queues or event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Kubernetes/AWS and containerized apps.
• Background in regulated/high-trust domains (fintech/payments/identity).
• Strong systems thinking and long-term architectural view.
• Clear communicator in ambiguity and collaboration.
• Nice to have: Event Sourcing, Express, or early-stage engineering culture shaping.
• European timezone availability is required.
