Job summary

As a Senior Software Engineer on Camunda's Core / API & Process Automation team, you will shape the event-sourced engine at the heart of Camunda 8 and drive safe, scalable API evolution.

You will tackle hard, ambiguous problems, lead end-to-end initiatives, and ship high-impact engine features while upholding an exceptional quality bar.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with distributed/event-driven systems.
• Deep event sourcing knowledge including replay, ordering and failures.
• Strong API design, versioning and contract testing.
• Experience diagnosing performance under production load.
• Technical leadership in ambiguity, autonomous working style, and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve the event-sourced engine and API stack.
• Lead hard, ambiguous problems end-to-end with ADRs and pragmatic trade-offs.
• Deliver high-impact engine features with high quality and performance.
• Ensure resiliency, schema evolution, and observability across upgrades.
• Identify and optimize inefficient data access patterns across data stores.
• Lead incidents, own RCAs, and drive systemic platform improvements.
