Job summary

Camunda is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Data Streaming team. You will build a durable streaming layer to enable customers to access process data at scale, decoupled from the live engine, and collaborate with Product, Data Layer, and Distributed Systems teams to evolve the data architecture.

The role focuses on delivering a scalable analytics streaming solution, integrating with systems like Kafka, and ensuring durable, consistent data delivery across distributed components.

Qualifications

• 7+ years backend experience in Java with distributed/data-intensive systems.
• Experience with analytical serving layer over Iceberg/Delta Lake and embedded query engines (e.g., DuckDB) or stateful stream-processing frameworks (e.g., Flink, Kafka Streams).
• Experience with object storage systems (S3/GCS/Azure) and idempotent upload/commit protocols.
• Solid grounding in correctness/consistency in data-intensive systems (concurrent writes, atomicity, idempotency).
• Demonstrated track record leading medium-to-large engineering initiatives end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Help rebuild analytics product data streaming at scale, moving it off the engine's critical path.
• Design and build the core streaming infrastructure decoupling data access from live engine.
• Build customer-facing data streaming capabilities with Kafka integration.
• Make foundational architecture decisions for a distributed streaming pipeline.
• Participate in L3 support and on-call rotations with Support and SRE.
