Job summary

IBM Software is seeking a Senior Engineer for WarpStream, a data streaming platform built on object storage. You will help design, implement, and operate high-performance backend services across multi-cloud environments with a focus on scalability and reliability.

The role involves working on an on-going basis with a distributed team, on-call responsibilities, and opportunities to influence architecture and user experience for developers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend systems experience in production.
• Strong programming skills in a major language (Java, Go, C/C++, Python).
• Interest in distributed systems and storage systems.
• Strong delivery, communication, leadership, and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Independently drive execution of complex technical projects end to end.
• Build mission-critical backend services delivering value to customers with scalable, reliable systems.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues in a distributed stack (microservices, containers, virtualization).
• Ensure operational readiness and meet availability/performance SLAs.
