Job summary

Webflow is seeking a backend-leaning Senior Software Engineer to own infrastructure and build the systems that power agentic workflows, content recommendations, and AI-driven features. You will work on a distributed backend, primarily in Python and TypeScript/Node.js, and contribute to a scalable AI workflow platform.

You’ll design, implement, and operate the backend services that drive our recommendations pipeline, while improving reliability, observability, and performance in a remote-first

Qualifications

• Experience building distributed backend systems with strong reliability and performance characteristics.
• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript/Node.js for backend services.
• Familiarity with scalable data models and API boundaries.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and observability tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the distributed backend systems behind our recommendations pipeline and AI workflow execution engine.
• Own and harden the infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes to improve reliability, observability, and scalability.
• Strengthen failure handling with eventing, streaming, retries, backpressure, and recovery to prevent outages.
• Reduce single points of failure and share on-call ownership across the team.
• Design clean service and API boundaries and optimize MongoDB data models and queries.
• Leverage AI tooling to build reliable systems on non-deterministic components.
• Collaborate with product engineers, PMs, and designers to ship end-to-end with maintainable code and clear design docs.
• Mentor engineers across the team on backend development.
