Job summary

WaferWire Cloud Technologies is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Digital Banking team. You will design and grow secure, scalable backend services using Java microservices, APIs, and event-driven patterns.

You will collaborate with product, architecture, operations, and business stakeholders while mentoring teammates and delivering reliable, high‑quality platform services. GenAI exposure is considered a differentiator, not a requirement.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Strong hands-on backend engineering with Java and its frameworks.
• Extensive experience building distributed apps and scalable services.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, XML and API lifecycles.
• Hands-on with Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, JUnit, Jenkins and CI/CD.
• Experience with Kafka or similar streaming tech; Kafka Streams a plus.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Commitment to CI, automated testing, secure coding, and collaborative engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services for high-volume banking platforms.
• Lead distributed systems design, asynchronous communication, fault tolerance, and backpressure strategies.
• Build Java microservices, REST APIs, batch jobs, and event-driven workflows.
• Contribute to workflow implementations and promote orchestration best practices.
• Hands-on design and development within an agile team, including architecture and code reviews.
• Ensure platforms are scalable, observable, reliable, and meet SLAs.
