Job summary

Beacon Biosignals is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Datastore team. You will design and scale backend data infrastructure, including PostgreSQL models, Kafka pipelines, and a GraphQL API, enabling clinical data workflows.

You will own data pipelines, collaborate across teams, and contribute to robust, scalable data services. This role is fully remote in the US with office hubs in Boston, NY, and Paris.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend development experience with data platforms and data-centric apps.
• 2+ years building data infrastructure including transactional systems and event pipelines.
• Strong SQL skills; hands-on PostgreSQL expertise and query tuning.
• Experience with data streaming using Kafka or equivalent systems.
• Proficiency in Julia or Python; willingness to learn Julia is a plus.
• Experience deploying services in containerized environments (Kubernetes).
• GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript experience; API-focused work.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product managers and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data integrations and services.
• Design and integrate new data services; own pipelines delivering dataset snapshots to the warehouse.
• Collaborate with platform teams to enable new workflows across clinical studies and digital health products.
• Draft RFCs for complex feature discovery and design, guiding team decisions.
• Ensure data movement correctness: completeness, idempotency, and resilient behavior under partial failure.
• Improve documentation, tools, and dashboards to boost robustness and usability of the datastore.
