Job summary

PitchBook, a Morningstar company, is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer for the Data Platform team in Seattle. You will design and build backend systems that ingest, correlate, enrich, and serve billions of records across PitchBook's products, owning end-to-end pieces of a high-scale distributed platform.

You will operate with autonomy on hard problems, guide design decisions, and contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, predominantly in backend systems.
• 5+ years of Java development experience, including production microservices.
• 4+ years with Spring Boot/Spring Framework.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Ability to work onsite in Seattle.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain backend services and data pipelines for large-scale data.
• Own features end-to-end from requirements to production support.
• Write well-designed, testable, efficient code meeting performance and reliability standards.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and advocate for sound engineering decisions.
• Perform code reviews and provide feedback to peers.
• Support production systems — deployments, troubleshooting, and incident response.
• Apply AI tooling to improve development and delivery efficiency; experiment with LLM-powered capabilities.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data science partners in Agile environments.
• Support company vision and values through role modeling.
• Participate in various company initiatives as requested.
