Job summary

PitchBook is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead architecture and delivery of scalable services across cloud environments. You will contribute to backend systems, APIs, and data-intensive platforms, while guiding multiple teams to high-quality technical decisions.

The role emphasizes design, prototyping, and establishing patterns that scale across the organization, with a focus on performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of software engineering experience using Java or a comparable OO language.
• At least 3 years developing microservices and distributed or event-driven systems in the cloud.
• Experience with service-oriented architecture, domain-driven design, clean/hexagonal architecture, and common patterns.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and event-driven Kafka-based apps.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform or AWS and container orchestration.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to guide through technical decisions across teams.

Responsibilities

• Solve strategic engineering problems hands on, build prototypes, and create reference implementations.
• Design and deliver working software, including backend services and frontend considerations like micro-frontend patterns.
• Automate architectural conformance and implement AI-based checks and fitness functions.
• Turn ambiguity into executable plans using domain-driven design and bounded contexts.
• Define measurable quality goals for performance, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Document architecture evolution with current/target state and transition steps for teams.
