Job summary

Sphere Pay is seeking a full-time Core Engineer to work remotely on core systems that support user accounts and services via our APIs. You will collaborate with sales, vendors, and internal teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions that enable onboarding, account activity, and transactions.

You will develop long-lived systems, integrate external services (KYC/AML, FX, banking aggregators), and ensure production readiness with documentation, tests, and robust error handling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is a plus; or extensive independent code development.
• Proven experience as a software engineer, with a minimum of 6 years of experience.
• Experience with payments, crypto / web3, and fintech is a plus but not required.
• Proficiency in web technologies and either a proficiency with or a willingness to learn: TypeScript, GCS, PostgreSQL, etc.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Product Lifecycle Management: work on long term major systems supporting customers and their accounts.
• Sales Relationship: develop product and feature documentation and implement prioritized solutions.
• Integration of External Services: coordinate with third-party vendors for integrations and represent engineering.
• Integration of Sphere Domains: expose core functionalities to end users via our API across domains.
• Bug Fixing & Issue Investigation: resolve high priority issues to minimize service interruptions.
• Development: write high-quality, scalable, and traceable code with robust logging.
• Documentation: create and maintain client and internal documentation and vendor notes.
• Testing Environments: maintain a production-mirror sandbox and test major features in a dry environment.
