Job summary

Sphere Pay is seeking a full-time Core Engineer to work remotely. You will contribute to core systems supporting user accounts, APIs, and payments, with a focus on scalable and reliable services for customers.

You will collaborate with sales, integrate external services (KYC/AML, FX APIs), and maintain documentation, tests, and deployment readiness. Candidates should have 6+ years in software engineering, strong web tech, and fintech domain experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is a plus; alternatively an extensive history of independent code development.
• Proven experience as a software engineer, with a minimum of 6 years of experience.
• Experience taking products to production and managing their maintenance, scaling, and changes / upgrades.
• Experience within payments, crypto / web3, and fintech are plus but are not required.
• Proficiency in common web technologies and either a proficiency with or a willingness to learn: TypeScript, GCS, PostgreSQL, etc.

Responsibilities

• Work on long term major systems supporting our customers and their accounts, including proposing, documenting, developing, maintaining, upgrading, and re-evaluating long-lived systems.
• Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer pain points and develop product documentation; implement prioritized solutions.
• Integrate external services such as KYC/AML and foreign exchange APIs and manage vendor communications.
• Expose core functionalities to end users via APIs and coordinate across domains to deliver complete solutions.
• Research issues raised by clients to minimize service interruptions and ensure system stability.
• Write high-quality, scalable, and traceable code; ensure testing in unit and integration environments.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for products, guides, and vendor integrations.
• Maintain a persistent test environment and sandbox to mirror production for dry-run testing.
