Job summary

KNIME AG is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own backend components, spanning from discovery to long-term maintenance. You will design high-quality microservices in Java or Golang, collaborate with product managers and architects, and mentor team members while improving system performance and security.

You will work on cloud-based KNIME services, tackle trade-offs between scalability and maintainability, and help shape technical direction across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science or a comparable field.
• 5+ years designing and implementing large-scale backend applications.
• Proficient in Java or Golang with backend focus.
• Microservice design, development, and deployment experience.
• Experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS or Azure).
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerization.
• Familiarity with authentication/authorization technologies (OIDC/Keycloak).
• Strong English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical design and solve cross-service problems.
• Design, implement, review, test, and maintain secure microservices for KNIME cloud.
• Build and improve robust REST APIs.
• Identify technical debt and architectural risks; lead mitigations.
