Clear Labs in San Carlos, CA is seeking a hands-on Senior Backend Software Engineer to own the core platform, architecting robust Java backend services and low-latency bridges between lab automation hardware and our cloud ecosystem.

You will lead the deterministic state machine, ensure synchronization across components, and drive scalability with modern backend patterns in a fast-growing, privacy-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production backend software experience.
• Expert in Java and Spring Boot ecosystem.
• Experience with cloud infra (GCP) and Kubernetes.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL).
• Strong unit/integration test practices (JUnit/Mockito).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 30+ Java Spring Boot microservices.
• Integrate with external pipelines and LIMS/EHR middleware.
• Implement state orchestration with GKE, RabbitMQ, and Pub/Sub.
• Optimize MySQL/Redis for high concurrency and scale.
• Lead production incident triage and resolution.
• Conform to SOC2 and ISO 27001 security standards.
