IBM Confluent is seeking experienced backend engineers to design and build distributed, cloud-native systems that power Confluent’s data-in-motion platform. You’ll own architecture decisions, drive end-to-end delivery, and ensure high availability across multi-tenant environments.

You will work with cutting-edge technologies in a fast-paced environment, mentoring peers and shaping the evolution of a prominent data infrastructure product.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of industry experience designing, building, and supporting backend systems in production.
• Strong knowledge of Python runtime environments and package management.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Python, Go, C/C++, Java).
• Experience with public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with observability and operational excellence (metrics, logging, tracing).
• Proven track record of technical leadership and coordinating work across teams.
• BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or related field.

Responsabilités

• Own and lead design and implementation of complex backend services in a cloud-native environment.
• Make architecture decisions balancing reliability, scalability, performance, and operability.
• Drive end-to-end projects from requirements through production rollout.
• Improve service reliability by defining SLOs/SLAs and enhancing observability.
• Collaborate to define APIs, data models, and integration points across teams.
• Mentor engineers through reviews and guidance; contribute to a culture of excellence.
