Job summary

IBM Software is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to own critical backend systems for the Stream Governance portfolio. Lead design, architecture, and delivery of multi-tenant, cloud-native services across regions and clouds, ensuring reliability, scalability, and secure operation.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-impact features like Confluent Schema Registry and Data Contracts.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of industry experience designing, building, scaling, and operating backend systems in production.
• Deep proficiency in at least one major backend language (Java, Go, C/C++, or Python).
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems and multi-region cloud deployments.
• Experience running production services in AWS, GCP, or Azure with containerized workloads.

Responsibilities

• Develop and architect the cloud-native Stream Governance platform as a multi-tenant, highly available service.
• Own end-to-end design and implementation of complex backend services in a cloud-native, microservices environment.
