Job summary

IBM is seeking a skilled engineer to design, build, and operate internal infrastructure services for the Confluent Cloud platform. You will work with Go-based components, Kubernetes operators, and cloud-native tooling to enable scalable, secure, and observable services across regions.

Collaborating with distributed teams, you will own the full lifecycle of systems—from development to runbooks—and participate in an 8-hour on-call rotation to ensure reliable data streaming platforms.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in Go, Java, or Python.
• Deep understanding of systems internals and large-scale performance.
• Hands-on Kubernetes in production and cloud-native ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve internal infrastructure services (Go) powering the platform.
• Own systems to be secure, scalable, observable, and reliable using GitOps and Terraform.
• Collaborate across teams to enable fast, safe deployments with platform tooling.
• Maintain on-call readiness and incident response for cloud services.
• Work at scale across regions with emphasis on reliability and performance.
• Influence architectural decisions for the Confluent Cloud platform.
