Job summary

Cisco is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and deliver robust, scalable software across cloud-native platforms. You will own the full lifecycle from design to deployment, ensuring reliability in distributed systems. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with stakeholders to optimize deployments and performance.

The role sits in a hybrid environment with in-office expectations at RTP, NC or San Jose, CA, enabling impactful work across Cisco’s global customer base.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in the full software development lifecycle (build, test, deploy) or equivalent advanced degree.
• Backend development with Python, Go, Node.js, Java, or Rust; REST or GraphQL APIs; relational/NoSQL databases; Kafka or AWS SQS/SNS.
• CI/CD workflows; pipelines; deployment troubleshooting.
• Cloud infrastructure and container orchestration (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker); IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Experience applying AI-assisted development tools or AIOps practices.
