Job summary

Shipt is seeking a Senior Engineer for the Checkout Team in Birmingham, AL. You will build, maintain, and optimize backend services for Conversion systems within a microservices architecture, using Golang, Python, Redis, Postgres, and Kafka.

You will collaborate with product and operations, own production services, participate in on-call rotations, and help design scalable, low-latency solutions that deliver value across Cart, Checkout, Tax, and Pricing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience with a programming language like Go, Python, Java, or C/C++.
• Experience designing, developing, testing and deploying backend REST API services with a focus on performance and latency.
• Comfortable working with SQL databases (Postgres preferred).
• Experience diagnosing and solving complex technical problems and performance bottlenecks using data.
• Ownership of production services and on-call rotation responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend services for Checkout systems.
• Collaborate with product and operations teams to solve challenges in Cart, Checkout, Tax, Fees and Pricing.
• Focus on latency, performance, and scalable architectures in a microservices environment.
• Mentor teammates and contribute to a culture of learning and ownership.
