Job summary

Evlo AI in San Francisco is hiring a backend engineer to design and maintain high-scale APIs and microservices powering user-facing products. You’ll own from architecture to deployment, collaborating with frontend and mobile teams to define contracts and with infra to keep systems reliable and cost-efficient.

You will work with Python/Go/Node.js, model data in PostgreSQL/Redis, and build event pipelines with Kafka/SQS.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience building and operating production services at scale.
• Strong API design and concurrency understanding.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production APIs and microservices in Python, Go, or Node.js; own services from architecture to deployment.
• Model and optimize relational and non-relational data stores (PostgreSQL, Redis, DynamoDB).
• Build and maintain event-driven pipelines using Kafka or SQS with at-least-once delivery and idempotency.
• Improve reliability with observability tooling, Datadog dashboards, logging, and alerts.
• Write tests and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions; participate in on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with frontend/mobile engineers to design clean, versioned API contracts.
• Lead technical design reviews and mentor mid-level engineers.
