Job summary

Veriday Inc seeks a Senior Backend Software Engineer to lead backend development for a major banking client in Cincinnati, OH. You will design, implement, and optimize scalable Java/J2EE applications using Spring, AWS, and Terraform, while mentoring junior engineers and guiding technical decisions.

The role requires 9+ years of enterprise experience, strong RESTful service design, and a passion for secure, high-performance software in a fast-paced contract environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 9+ years of Java/J2EE development in enterprise applications.
• Proven experience providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and delivery of scalable, secure enterprise applications using Java/J2EE and Spring.
• Architect cloud-native solutions on AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, API Gateway).
• Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform to provision AWS resources.
• Develop and consume high-performance RESTful web services (SOAP experience valued).
• Guide architectural decisions and best practices for code quality and microservices design.
• Partner with product owners, architects, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical plans.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Troubleshoot production issues to maintain stability and performance.
• Evaluate emerging tools to improve development processes.
