Job summary

Valency Systems Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to report to the Head of Engineering. You will work deeply in the codebase, influencing architectural decisions and mentoring peers while staying hands-on.

The role focuses on backend systems, APIs, data models, and scalable infrastructure to support growth. You will design, build, and own critical services, data pipelines, and reliable infrastructure, balancing trade-offs under pressure and maintaining high standards for code quality

Qualifications

8+ years of software engineering experience with backend systems.
Strong command of a backend language (Python, Go, Java, Rust, or similar) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Hands-on with relational and non-relational stores; experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD.
Experience owning complex projects end-to-end and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and own critical backend services and data pipelines.
Make architectural decisions and document trade-offs for the team.
Drive platform reliability investments alongside feature work and ensure code quality.
Establish and uphold high standards for testing, observability, and operations.
Own full lifecycle of services from design to deployment including CI/CD and cloud infra.
