Job summary

Remitly is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer to own components of the transaction platform, optimize delivery estimates, and build new platform capabilities. You will lead multi-engineer initiatives, mentor peers, and contribute to AI-informed coding practices in a high-velocity, reliability-focused environment.

You will collaborate with product managers and engineers across Remitly, ensure correctness of money-moving systems, and uphold strong operational excellence while navigating

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development building and operating production backend systems.
• 1+ year leading features with multiple engineers, including breaking large, ambiguous work into workstreams.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed backend systems on AWS.
• Experience with MySQL and DynamoDB.
• Clear written and verbal communication with engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
• Experience evaluating AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of an area of the transaction platform and become its SME.
• Evolve how Remitly estimates delivery times for customers using ML models.
• Lead end-to-end initiatives spanning multiple engineers and teams.
• Write technical specifications, lead design reviews, and contribute to cross-team designs.
• Deliver scalable, observable, and well-documented services and APIs.
• Own the operational health of services, including on-call, SLOs, and incident response.
• Help peers adopt AI responsibly in development and testing.
